Archibald Mill Dundas and Critters

Sometimes one needs to disconnect from the world's events
and find something that stirs your heart.
For me, that's roaming, and seeing new places,
or old places with new eyes.

Welcome to
Dundas, Minnesota.

Wednesday I went on a road trip (close to home) in
search of an old abandoned mill.

The Old Archibald Mill
What's left of it.

"One's destination is never a place,
but a new way of seeing things."
Henry Miller

I brought a very quiet friend with me too.
Thinking she needs to smile!

"When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile."
Steve Mariboli

Viewing the mill from land it looks like most of it is in ruins. But, from the Cannon River that runs behind it you can see quite a bit of structure.

"Should you shield the canyons from windstorms
you would never see the true beauty of their carvings."
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

"All is as if the world ceased to exist.
The city's monuments go unseen, its past unheard,
and it's culture slowly fading in the dismal sea."
Nathan Reese Maher

You can almost get this sense,
 where only this place exists.
A most quiet free world
where I'm walking,
(lost in this ruins)
oblivious to the days events,
ignoring everything else around here.

Hike more, worry less. Open that closed door.
 Climb through that open window.
(Unless there's a sign that says Keep Out!)
Walk forward.

"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth."
Henry David Thoreau

"I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees."
Henry David Thoreau

I do love animals as much as Eileen that's why I
Can't forget to include a few critter photos!

Misty in "Bunny watching mode" gazing out the window,
she misses nothing.

Dash loves chewing (and chasing) his toys.

In the distance (grey color) is a happy little Garden-Gnome!

Here he is! Look quickly he's always in constant motion.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your weekend and take good care of you!

Love old mills, especially those driven by water wheels.

Hello, it is cool to explore the old mill site. I enjoyed the video showing the river and the mill too. Your friend needs a smiley face. I love the quotes, especially "Hike more, worry less".

Misty and Dash are beautiful, I wish I could give them a hug. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the new week ahead!

The stonework on the old mill is wonderful!

That mill is quite interesting---just think of the hand labor in stacking stone after stone to build those walls.

Your critters are adorable...both real and not so much. That day's trip to find the mill ruins would be right up my alley so to speak. What an interesting place, AND great photo ops too.

Walking through ruins is fascinating Karen, you can really let your imagination loose on what happened in the spot over the hundreds of years passed. Looks like you enjoyed your weekend very much 😊
