On Explorers All or Nothing Day

Greetings!

Alexa informed me that today is
All or Nothing Day
A day dedicated to really going all for it.

The Romans understood it so well they had a saying,

Carpe Diem
or
Seize the day!

She also said if you want, "I can remind you

as many times today as you wish."

"It's the job of writers and explorers to see more,
to travel light when it comes to preconception,
to go into the dark with their eyes wide open."
Virginia Woolf

Time: Today is everything.
Richie Norton

Minneapolis you are rich in design and its people.
All are welcome here.
For now.

See ordinary old things in new ways.

Celebrate you!
"Never underestimate the determination
of a child that is time rich and cash poor."
Cory Doctorow

"Own your happiness."
Richie Norton

Bake!
My daughter's an expert baker!

Eat cake!

"When no possessions keep us
when no countries contain us
and no time detains us
man becomes a heroic wanderer
and woman, a wanderess."
Roman Payne
Be that force of nature's course.

Seize your day!

"When in trouble or in doubt
run in circles,
scream and shout."
Cory Doctorow

Enjoy living a day of all or nothing!
Take good care of you.

Dare to Differ

Good morning friends!

"A stone-hearted jester
searches for a pair of spectacles
that give her complete understanding."

Dare to differ
that's the name
of the game.

When there isn't a lighthouse close at hand, bring your own.

Roaming lighthouse.

See old things with new eyes.

"Creating a better future
requires creativity in the present."
Matthew Goldfinger

Up every path you never know what you'll see.

Excuse me, I really must meet your pup!
Overly friendly pup I never got another chance for more photos!

What stands out to you in this photo below?

"I have learned that two people can look at the exact same thing
and see something totally different."

Pretty darn creative right? Biking and mowing at the same time who knew you could do this?

I haven't met an owl yet that wasn't wise!

"I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet."
Mahatma Gandhi

Look what unique thing I found growing along the path?

"Work hard in silence
let your success be your noise."

Enjoy your day, laugh much, smile more
and take that path and see where it leads you.

is more singing."
Ella Fitzgerald

I may be a frog but-

"My heart is like a singing bird!"
Christina Rossetti

Sing along with us!

"Singing provides a true sense of lightheartedness.
If I sing when I am alone
I feel wonderful.
It's freedom."
Andrea Bocelli

I can't heaaaaaaaaaar you!

Look eggs!

"It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird:
it would be a jolly sight harder
for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg.
We are like eggs at present.
And you cannot go on indefinitely
being just an ordinary, decent egg.
We must be hatched or go bad."
C.S. Lewis

Rise up and sing!

Won't you join in and sing along with us?

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you're going

Knobs and Dials - Thematic Photographic

Welcome to another

post
our theme is
Knobs and Dials

"I like stepping into the future.
Therefore, I look for doorknobs."
Marc Rosen
Minnesota Sportscaster

If this were the 60's or possibly the 70's okay maybe the 80's and 90's
we'd have so many more objects with knobs and dials to post.

"Nothing is stable. Nothing absolute. All is fluid and changeable.
There is an endless becoming."
Benjamin N. Cardozo

Remember how much fun it was to flip the dial
 for your favorite radio station?
When you were fourteen!

"Method is much, technique is much, but inspiration is even more."
Benjamin N. Cardozo

What's for dinner?

My vintage Brownie
"Sometimes, you'll never know the true value of a moment
until it becomes a memory."

Below is the major control panel of my car!
It's a touch screen too!
Yep, no knobs or dials here either.

One draw back to a knob free world,
Be very careful with the new touch system.
Even my dog has accidentally changed things.

Meet Alexa, this may be silly
but I feel like she's our newest member of the family!

Absolutely no knobs or dials needed at all.
She responds to your voice. Any voice,
just as long as you say, "Alexa" before you request anything.

"Leave the door open for the unknown,

the door into the dark.
That's where the most important things come from,
ad where you will go."
Rebecca Solnit

"Passion will make you crazy, but is there any other way to live?"

Howard Hughes

Thank you for sharing time to stop by.
Enjoy your weekend!
Take good care of you.

Happy Birthday Nelson

Wishing all the way up to heaven a truly

Happy Birthday to Nelson Mandela

you are still in our thoughts, sometimes more than ever in our world today.

"A good leader can engage in debate frankly
and thoroughly, knowing that at the end
he and the other side must be closer, and thus emerge stronger.

You don't have that idea when you are arrogant, superficial, and uninformed."
Nelson Mandela

"There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged
to find the ways in which you yourself have altered."
Nelson Mandela

"As we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same."
Nelson Mandela

"Resentment is like drinking poison
and then hoping it will kill your enemies."
Nelson Mandela

Moments of artful absurdity keep us balanced.

Nature's gifts keep us grounded.

Childhood is a journey
we all share.

Children shake the world with blunt honesty!

"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul
than the way in which it treats its children."
Nelson Mandela

Archibald Mill Dundas and Critters

Sometimes one needs to disconnect from the world's events
and find something that stirs your heart.
For me, that's roaming, and seeing new places,
or old places with new eyes.

Welcome to
Dundas, Minnesota.

Wednesday I went on a road trip (close to home) in
search of an old abandoned mill.

The Old Archibald Mill
What's left of it.

"One's destination is never a place,
but a new way of seeing things."
Henry Miller

I brought a very quiet friend with me too.
Thinking she needs to smile!

"When you cross paths with another, dare to make them smile."
Steve Mariboli

Viewing the mill from land it looks like most of it is in ruins. But, from the Cannon River that runs behind it you can see quite a bit of structure.

"Should you shield the canyons from windstorms
you would never see the true beauty of their carvings."
Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

"All is as if the world ceased to exist.
The city's monuments go unseen, its past unheard,
and it's culture slowly fading in the dismal sea."
Nathan Reese Maher

You can almost get this sense,
 where only this place exists.
A most quiet free world
where I'm walking,
(lost in this ruins)
oblivious to the days events,
ignoring everything else around here.

Hike more, worry less. Open that closed door.
 Climb through that open window.
(Unless there's a sign that says Keep Out!)
Walk forward.

"Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth."
Henry David Thoreau

"I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the trees."
Henry David Thoreau

I do love animals as much as Eileen that's why I
Can't forget to include a few critter photos!

Misty in "Bunny watching mode" gazing out the window,
she misses nothing.

Dash loves chewing (and chasing) his toys.

In the distance (grey color) is a happy little Garden-Gnome!

Here he is! Look quickly he's always in constant motion.

Thanks for stopping by, enjoy your weekend and take good care of you!
